I had the pleasure to visit Ballinglen Museum of Art this past Summer in Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland, while my dear friend , artist, Karina Hean was a fellow for a month. She invited me to stay with her for part of her residency, which was very generous of her! I enjoyed conversing with Margo in the library where we both were set up, me editing and she she doing foundation work, recently giving up her office space for the library. Glad she did, because I got to meet a new friend!
She and her late husband Peter are the founders of the Ballinglen Art Museum and Residency. It was a joy to meet her and I felt a kinship present, her residence and gallery Dolan and Maxwell is located in Philadelphia, where I went to college. I appreciate the vision and support that she and her husband have given to artists through the years, It’s a noble quality to nurture artists with time at Ballinglen. Thank you!
I applied to the first biennial exhibition at the Ballinglen Museum of Art and was accepted to participate in this exhibition that will open on October 7, 2023 – January 10, 2024.
Also, looking forward to returning there someday to be a fellow as well.
