    Aisthesis

Aisthesis comes from the greek word for perceiving through all your senses, as well as the perception of the perceived that is left on the body, this includes the perception from the intellect as well as all the senses in the body. The ocean has the ability to let all the wrinkles get ironed out in our body and mind. In the portraits of the people you can see how the ocean gives a touch of satisfaction and openness- an exhalation of serene being. Water, being the essence of life, invokes an openness, a connection to a primordial state of being, conscious or unconscious. There is the immediate syncing of our heart rhythms and our blood, that is saline like the sea, that moves with the tides. The ocean is the most ancient threshold on our planet. The Gulf thunderheads, the New Mexico high desert, are places I dwell, they attract my attention to the illusory state of mind, the dream-like of existence, how quickly moments change, the songs of the universe, perpetual motion, both the clouds and the depth of the ocean below.
